A message from the superintendent regarding recent events

June 3, 2020
Dear South Redford Families,

I hope this communication finds you and your family healthy and doing well.  I would like to take this opportunity to share with you that the administration and staff of the South Redford School District stand together with our African American community as so many in our country struggle with racial injustices.

It is of utmost importance to our South Redford School District administration and staff to continually grow and learn in the area of Cultural Responsiveness.  The District has a full-time staff member dedicated to working with our staff members to support us in increasing cultural competency and our ability to understand, communicate with, and interact positively and effectively with people across all cultures. We continue to engage collaboratively with the township, county, and state to improve our awareness and practices.

Additionally, as the co-chair of the One Redford community leadership group -- which is made up of religious and community leaders, police and fire chiefs, and education leaders -- I am encouraged that our community is actively working at bringing "unity to our community," which is the main focus of One Redford.

Go Eagles!

Brian Galdes
